To raise awareness of the creativity and skill of the craftsmen and artists dedicated to processing, the Museo de Arte Popular (MAP) introduced by the fourth year running this show, in which the public can admire monumental 66 kites.
Unlike other countries like USA, Italy, China, Brazil, Uruguay and India, where festivals and celebrations are held at the center taking care of kites, for purposes of tourism, particularly, in Mexico, the MAP search through the exhibition-contest of kites, to rescue the essence of folk art the manufacture of these toys, in addition to preserving a tradition.
In Mexico, the English arrived they made known to the Indians, who thereafter called the kite-papalotl Nahuatl, "which means butterfly. V ANNIVERSARY OF MAP

Five years after its inauguration -28 February, 2006 - Popular Art Museum has become an indisputable leader of the Mexican museum and without a doubt, a fundamental support for artisans and the world of the national popular culture, and their relation to biodiversity, the source of technical trades and materials, different.
As part of this celebration, the public can learn about the various activities undertaken by the museum in its first five years, with the support of artisans, artists, collectors and patrons, the exhibition presented in the room part of the month, until the end of April.
The results of the work, is the gradual increase in age, which to date totals about 535 000 visitors, domestic and foreign.
In the first five years, MAP has focused its efforts on promoting and disseminating the work of about 6 000 500 artisans and artists, through its permanent exhibition consisting of pieces of great wealth and artistic quality, 24 temporary exhibitions 54 exhibitions in the room part of the month and 9 traveling exhibits, among other activities undertaken.

Vochol ® is an unprecedented event in the history of popular art in Mexico and the world, in which two Huichol artisan families in the states of Nayarit and Jalisco, taken as a canvas the size structure of a car, to intervene with a unique design based beads.
Huichol artisans began
intervention Vochol ® in May 2010, at the Hospice CabaƱas, Guadalajara, Jalisco, and then continue in the State Center for Popular and Indigenous Cultures of Nayarit.
