Street Trades in MAP

The barker
Since the arrival of the English in what is now called America, one of the recurring themes of the crown was the market ; of Tlatelolco in the valley of Anahuac, but not only the "flea market" product sales, too, as in any civilization, reported on the trades. There were "poets" architects "sculptors" "jo-yeros" musical instrument makers, women dress elaborated waist loom among many other techniques. Were chores that by placing the story in that context, satisfied the necessities of life. Arriving Europeans developed a number of new jobs which in turn have changed the customs of the land that was gradually "amestizado" their daily lives. It was precisely Peter Gent, from Belgium Franciscan who initiates a trade school in what is now the corner of Central Axis (formerly San Juan de Letran, before Lost Boy) and Madero. Time passes and needs change, the Folk Art Museum pays tribute to everyday activities, which in some cases are quickly disappearing, and with them personal interaction, admiration for the job at hand and the warmth and respect generated by this coexistence.
The exhibition "MAISTRA WHAT IF I CAN NOT? Invented it! A day in the offices of the street" will be until June 5, 2011 in the temporary exhibition hall of the Museum.

MAISTRA CAN NOT WHAT IF? Invented it!
A day in the street trades

In contrast always Mexico City skyscrapers are built stunning, magnificent buildings that dress in elegance and innovation to the capital's landscape. But it is in the same place, a more discreet attire, ancient streets that will accommodate work according to the set, trades continue to take place as from day one and the same goal, earning the daily bread.
transporting us to the 60s, the Museo de Arte Popular (MAP) invites the public to travel on anonymous streets of the historic center of Mexico City. The viewer will enter into an illusion theme of the trades that were developing at that time and in some cases still present.
Inspired by the everyday activities of people like the postman, the baker, the sharpener and thrift shops, among many others, the proposed museum invites visitors to start early on a tour in which city dwellers can enjoy breakfast in the place of their choice, find out what's happening in the world with the early bird crier cry or feel calm to see the sweeper in his painstaking efforts to keep the city clean.
Throughout your walk you can access a traditional neighborhood of the center, not without first having passed through the machine shop, the tailor and the cobbler, accompanied by the beat of a familiar melody of Consuelito Velázquez, played by an organ. Fully
involved in this urban environment, a taxi known as crocodile is the vehicle that takes you to the Alameda, where he already expects a colorful panorama. Meringues, cotton and frozen treats are some of the traditional you can buy. And in an environment so scorching why not take a souvenir photo? Almost
to end, hinting at sunset, other trades will appear on the street, and seller of potatoes with her picture and sound peculiar, the taco and
pepiteros. Of course, at the end of the day could not miss a pulqueria representing the mixture of all this folklore.
MAISTRA CAN NOT WHAT IF? Invented it! A day in the offices of the street, the name by which this unique show is called, relies on the imagination and recreation through images, sounds and objects that are composed entirely.
Real-size photographs in black and white are the protagonists of this exhibition, who are surrounded by the tools and objects that they were used, allowing them to discover through features of the identity of a people that can be recognized as Luchon and nostalgic. This is also becoming routine in which we can find small hints oral civic customs, jokes, wordplay and puns.
voices are evoked more and more scarce, echoes and spectacular musical structures that have been losing ground to the terrifying advance of technology, referring to areas that rely on memory and in turn live and confront us with today.
The exhibition, which is equally well-deserved tribute to those who have made our society continues to function, opens this Saturday, March 26, 2011, at 12:00 pm in the premises of the Museo de Arte Popular (MAP ), to remain open until June 5 of this.

No 33. Last issue of the magazine.

A new copy of The Panera has come to light in recent days. People who are accustomed @ sa did not go unnoticed follow the reduction of pages in this latest issue. The effects of the crisis that reaches every corner. However, since the point of having lost forever, we have to proceed, although it has been at the expense of having the occasional cut. Size, not quality or dedication, as I explain in the editorial of this issue. The continuity is due in part - or so we believe from the wording of the magazine - the reading public that follows us. A magazine made primarily by higher, but not just for seniors. We had just turned nine. We hope to have as many in the interest of our readers in this new phase began.

NEW MEMORY FOR FENCES

on Thursday, during the ceremony presented by the Association of Widows of Astorga, in the acts of the Women's Week, was another tribute to Manuela Rejas. The same came a proposal from one of the members of the Association, since this came to Astorga, in the framework of the X Awareness Days, back in 2006, kept with care Manuela's poem that was distributed with the programs. That visit made a great impact on many of these women, in whom this "illusion of life" left an indelible mark.
was Efisio Alonso, promoter of this time was spent in a week than two years ago had to "the magician Violeta" recognition vital for his career, in charge of reading for all the audience some verses which, with events taking place in recent weeks in places like Libya, seem unhappy today.
Efisio made also for them a personal and moving introduction that allowed me to share.

Efisio Alonso, Manuela reading verses.
I read some verses that Manuela Rejas wrote. Working women, struggling, and high capacity human. Manuela left a year ago we entered into heaven, and was received with great applause, to which she was already accustomed to.
Manuela, I imagine sitting on a throne of glory and you had prepared, surrounded by angels, enjoying and laughing with your stories of clown.
Manuela, you do not you will have died while we remember you.
Manuela, you've left us no , has preceded us. Do not say, then, goodbye. Say, see you soon.

SILENT DEATH.

By Manuela Rejas García.

Stumbling and afraid
shivering bodies
covered in blood and mud
go dead than alive.

Silent Death
walking behind them is collecting souls
effortlessly.

starving children
crazy mothers with their sagging breasts
want to entertain.

Silent Death
collecting goes back those poor souls
giving eternal rest.

So ... day after day ...
without relief, without pause
without effective assistance
only false promises.

The kids ask
Mom ... why ... what happens?
Blood, sweat and tears.

De
new shots
Terrorize
huge crazy races ... Death
untold horror and fear.

L a silent death
wants nothing
doing their job
simply go charging souls.

And we ...?
"We ... what we do ...?
sit back as
we are blind we
apologize What I can do ...?

This empty phrase
that everyone says
This world is crazy!
and with that I keep.

Silent Death
continue their work while the men
mad keep up the killing.

I now just say
my God ... Until then. Put
his hands on them.
death Da rest.

Unlike other countries like USA, Italy, China, Brazil, Uruguay and India, where festivals and celebrations are held at the center taking care of kites, for purposes of tourism, particularly, in Mexico, the MAP search through the exhibition-contest of kites, to rescue the essence of folk art the manufacture of these toys, in addition to preserving a tradition.
In Mexico, the English arrived they made known to the Indians, who thereafter called the kite-papalotl Nahuatl, "which means butterfly. This will become not only fun but also a symbol of tradition, as for example in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, Oaxaca, where, during the Day of the Dead, the kites become a way for the spirits of the dead come down and visit their loved ones, and likewise leave.

MAISTRA CAN NOT WHAT IF? Invented it! A DAY IN THE STREET TRADES
Opening Saturday 26 March, 12:00

Folk Art Museum evokes various "offices" of the time 60s. How not to remember: that veeeendaaaan vieeejo fieeeeerro!, The morning cry of paaaaan!, the famous bells of cart pallets or the whistle of sweet potatoes, sounds more and more rare and scarce street voices, cries of the neighborhood, sounds dramatic, musical structures that have been losing ground to the terrifying advance of "progress."
MAISTRA CAN NOT WHAT IF? Invented it! A day in the street trades, recreation spaces that lie in the memory of our grandparents, "in some of us ... perhaps, but sadly tend to disappear, to silence our neighborhoods, to depersonalize our city, lost in the world of anonymity and selfishness.
A sample that shows signs of identity a people, which can be recognized as Luchon and nostalgic for a very special and routine everyday. Remain on display until June 5, 2011.
